Step 1: Understand What 'Stock Update' Means for a Used GWM Exporter
When you're sourcing used GWM vehicles from China, a stock update is not a marketing email. It's a factual snapshot of what is physically available at the yards — typically Tianjin and Guangzhou — right now. This includes model family, model year, real mileage, registration date, steering position, and a reference FOB price.
GWM Export publishes these updates so importers in Russia/CIS, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America can act on real data. We are an independent exporter, not affiliated with Great Wall Motor. Every listing you see is sourced from the China domestic market and comes with photos per listing. If a unit sells, it is removed. No phantom inventory. No bait pricing.
Use the update to filter by destination fit: left-hand drive (LHD) registration rules, duty bands, and shipping route from Tianjin or Guangzhou. Your first step is to treat the update as a live catalogue, not a brochure.
Step 2: Check Real Mileage and Condition Before You Shortlist
Mileage is the single most abused number in used car export. In our listings, mileage is tied to a specific vehicle identification reference and a registration date. For example, a 2021 Great Wall Cannon with 60,000 km and a 2020 Great Wall Cannon with 75,000 km are different units with different reference FOB prices.
Do not assume a low-mileage unit is automatically better for your market. In some destinations, a 2021 Fengjun with 40,000 km and a clean registration date is easier to register than a newer unit with missing paperwork. Ask for the registration date, the photos per listing, and the reference FOB price in writing. If a seller cannot provide these three items for a unit, skip it.
We recommend building a shortlist of three to five units per model family. That gives you room to negotiate freight and still have a fallback if one unit is sold while you arrange payment.
Step 3: Compare Reference FOB Prices Across Model Families
Reference FOB prices move with model year, mileage, trim, and condition. Use them as a starting point for your landed-cost math, not as a final quote. For the Big Dog family, for example, our current stock covers model years 2020–2026 with a reference FOB price range of $8,500–$20,600 across 81 units.
A few real examples from our Big Dog stock update:
- 2024 Big Dog 1.5T Labrador Edition SUV — 28,000 km, LHD, reference FOB $12,200
- 2023 Big Dog 2.0T Four-Wheel Drive Trendy Off-Road Plus SUV — 21,500 km, LHD, reference FOB $14,200
- 2021 Big Dog 1.5T Two-Wheel Drive Madogou Wangcai Edition (facelift) SUV — 70,000 km, LHD, reference FOB $9,500
- 2023 Big Dog 2.0T 2WD Tide Off-Road SUV — 18,000 km, LHD, reference FOB $14,500
These units are listed for destinations including the UAE, Nigeria, Kazakhstan, and Saudi Arabia. Note the spread: a 2021 unit with 70,000 km sits near the bottom of the range, while a 2024 unit with 28,000 km sits mid-range. Trim and drivetrain explain the rest. Always confirm the exact unit reference before you wire a deposit.
Step 4: Verify Export Documents and Destination Rules
Every exported GWM travels with a set of documents your customs broker will ask for: commercial invoice, bill of lading (B/L), certificate of origin (COO), and the export declaration. China Customs processes the export side; your destination customs authority processes the import side. The two are separate, and a missing document on either end can stall the unit at port.
Before you commit, confirm three things: (1) the unit is LHD — every GWM unit we stock is left-hand drive, and not every market registers LHD; (2) the destination's duty band for used passenger cars versus pickups, which can differ significantly; (3) the shipping method. RoRo and container are the two ways cars leave China, and each has different cost, protection, and schedule trade-offs.
If you are importing into Nigeria, Kenya, Mexico, Chile, Russia, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, or the UAE, check the latest destination customs authority guidance. Rules change. A unit that cleared last quarter may face a different tariff line this quarter.
Step 5: Lock the Unit and Arrange Shipping from Tianjin or Guangzhou
Once you have shortlisted a unit and confirmed the documents, the next step is to lock it. Stock moves. A featured unit today may be sold tomorrow. Ask for a written offer that includes the unit reference, mileage, reference FOB price, and the port of loading — Tianjin or Guangzhou. Which port a unit ships from affects transit time and route to your destination.
Expect to pay a deposit to hold the unit, with the balance before loading. Freight is quoted separately. For a landed-cost breakdown, you need: FOB price + ocean freight + insurance + destination duty + destination port charges + inland delivery. Ask your freight forwarder for each line in writing.
If you are buying multiple units, container loading can reduce per-unit freight, but RoRo is often simpler for single units. Confirm the schedule before you commit to a delivery date.
Step 6: Use the Stock Update as a Repeatable Sourcing Process
The most effective importers treat stock updates as a monthly routine, not a one-time browse. Set a target model family, a mileage ceiling, and a reference FOB budget. Then review new listings against those three filters. When a unit matches, verify mileage and registration date, request photos, confirm LHD and destination rules, and move to a written offer.
For markets like Nigeria and Kenya, pickups such as the Cannon are common workhorses, and duty on used pickups differs from passenger cars. For Russia/CIS and Kazakhstan, LHD SUVs with clear registration history tend to move faster through customs. For the Middle East, Big Dog and similar SUVs are in steady demand.
Keep a record of every unit you enquire about: reference, mileage, price, and outcome. Over time, this record tells you which model families and mileage bands actually clear your destination at a workable landed cost. That is how you turn a stock update into a sourcing advantage.
What to Do Next
Open the current used GWM stock update and shortlist three units that match your destination's LHD rules and duty band. For each unit, request the registration date, mileage, photos, and reference FOB price in writing. Then ask for a landed-cost breakdown to your port, including ocean freight, insurance, and destination duty.
If you are ready to move, message us on WhatsApp with your destination country and target model family. We will confirm what is in stock at Tianjin or Guangzhou, share real photos, and issue a written offer. GWM Export is an independent exporter — we do not manufacture vehicles and we are not affiliated with Great Wall Motor. We source used GWM units from the China domestic market and handle export logistics so you can focus on your market.
